How to Renew Your Florida Cosmetology License in 2026

Florida cosmetology licenses are renewed every two years through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Renewals are split into two groups: Group 1 expires October 31 of odd years, Group 2 expires October 31 of even years. Florida also requires 10 hours of continuing education each cycle.

When it's due

October 31 of your renewal year — check whether you're Group 1 (odd) or Group 2 (even) on your license.

How to renew

Complete your 10 CE hours, then renew online through the DBPR licensing portal and pay the fee. Your salon/establishment license is separate from your individual license — don't renew one and forget the other.

What trips people up

The two-year gap makes it easy to forget, and the CE requirement means you can't just pay at the last minute — you need the hours done first. Give yourself runway.

Never miss a renewal again

Snap a photo of your license — Renady reads the expiration date and reminds you at 60, 30, and 7 days out, so the CE and renewal never sneak up on you. Free permit audit to start.

Always confirm your renewal group and date with the DBPR. Cycles and rules can change.
